Participation in Projects on Climate Finance

The Research and Education Center“Green Academy”, in cooperation with the GIZ regional project "Ecosystem-based Adaptation to Climate Change in High-mountainous regions of Central Asia, EbA/Kazakhstan" is holding a workshop – training on "Participation in Projects on Climate Finance" which will be conducted on April 20-22, 2016 in Astana. The event is aimed to give an introduction to the activities of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the roles of National Designated Authority (NDA) and National Implementing Entities (NIE), as well as on the procedure to prepare project proposals for financing.

According to the decisions of the Conference of Parties, 21 of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Climate Agreement, Green Climate Fund, along with the Global Environment Facility (GEF), is the operating entity of the Financial Mechanism of the UNFCCC Convention. GCF provides support for projects, programs and policies in the field of climate change adaptation and mitigation in developing countries through various financial tools, such as grants, concessional loans, subordinated debt, equity, and others.

The training is aimed at representatives of government agencies, business, and NGOs. Participants will learn about participation mechanisms in climate finance projects and programs, international and local experience in the implementation of the emission reductions and the transition to a low-carbon development projects.

GIZ international experts–trainers in the field of climate finance readiness - will conduct this training.
