"Implementation of integrated water resources management (IWRM)"

Scientific-educational center "Green Academy" in cooperation with DHI Centre on water

and environment of United Nations Programme for the environment (UN Environment-DHI

Centre on Water and Environment) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) 21 September

2017 conducts a national seminar of stakeholders on sdg-6.5.1 "Implementation of

integrated water resources management (IWRM)".

The aim of the seminar is to discuss the implementation of indicator 6.5.1 of the

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As is known, in September 2015 the UN General Assembly adopted the Development

Program-2030, aimed at stimulating development in the next 15 years. The Global Water

Partnership 2016-2019 Action Program focuses on supporting countries to achieve water-related

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular, goal 6.5 on integrated water resources

management. In this context, GWP uses its unique experience of cooperation in helping

countries implement the Development Program-2030.

The responsible persons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of

Kazakhstan, MoA RK, MoE RK, UNDP, UNEP, the Global Information Center, the Regional

Environmental Center, the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, national experts, NGOs

are invited to the seminar.

Following the results of the seminar, recommendations will be developed on further steps

for the development and implementation of IWRM at the national level and monitoring of the

Goal-6.5.1.
