II CIS Sustainable Forum

On December 2-3, 2014 in Astana the Scientific Research and Education Center “Green Academy” in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises (AMME), ERG Research Engineering Center (Kazakhstan) and with the support of Fleming Gulf Company have conducted the IICIS Sustainable Mining Forum.

The aim of the forum was to discuss the issues of responsible mining, finding innovative models that provide a qualitative change of production, integration of "green" principles into the production system, greening of business and infrastructure.

At the opening plenary session moderator, member of the IOC World Congress, Professor Mr. Galiyev announced a letter of greetings to the participants on behalf of the President of the IOC World Mining Congress Mr. Joseph Dubinski.

Chairman of the Board of LLP "REC ERG» Mr. Sabitov, deputy executive director of                   the "Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan"                   Mr. Mukhanov, Head of theory of design development of mineral resources, professor, Doctor of Technical Science, Prof. IPKON Ms. Rylnikova, Professor of the Department of Metallurgy and foundry of South Ural State University (National Research University), Ph.D. Mr. Roschin, Russian Federation, market sector manager ABB Switzerland Ltd (Switzerland) Max Luedtke and others participated at the plenary session.

In the framework of the forum will be discussed the issues of sustainable development of the mining industry, integrated development of mineral deposits, mechanisms of greenhouse gas emission reduction in mining enterprises, use of cluster approach and increasing the competitiveness of the mining complex enterprises. The heads and representatives of the departments of the Ministry of Investment and Development of RK, Mining Institute of Academy of Sciences of Russia, departments of ERG, JSC “NAC “Kazatomprom”, ABB Switzerland Ltd, “ALKORUS” (Russia) mining companies, international organizations (USAID, GIZ, WWF), experts, NGO and others are invited as speakers and participants of the forum reported at the panel sessions.

Within the forum director of Innovation and Sustainable Development NP "NAEN" (Russia) Anton Chupilko moderated the roundtable. It was held in order to discuss the social and environmental responsibility of mining companies on the example of the implementation of projects in the mining sector to preserve the environment and public health.

Based on the reports and presentations of the participants collection of theses was published in a volume of 6.4 pp.

On the results of the Forum recommendations on improving the responsible mining for Governments and CIS countries were developed.
