Innovative and Low-Carbon Technologies as priorities areas of the Green Bridge Partnership Program

On April 7, 2017, in the Conference Hall of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in Almaty with in the framework of the preparation of the World Congress of Scientists and Engineers WSEC-2017 (the official event of EXPO-2017), a Round Table on “Innovative and Low-Carbon Technologies as priorities areas of the Green Bridge Partnership Program”, organized by the Scientific and Educational Center “Green Academy” in cooperation with the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of Samruk-Energo JSC and Eurasian Resources Group. With in the framework of the Roundtable, the prospects of the transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan to low-carbon development were discussed and the presentation of the book “Strategy for the transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan to low-carbon development in globalization: potential, priorities and implementation mechanisms” prepared by well-known Kazakhstani scientists.

The participants of the event are representatives of the Committee on issues of ecology and environmental management of the Mazhilis of Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Investment and Development, the Ministry of Energy, the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (UAE), OSCE, USAID, ISTC, National Nuclear Center, Samruk-Energo JSC, KAZENERGY, Association of Renewable Energy Sources of Kazakhstan, KazNAU, University of International Business, KazMunayGas JSC, “Volkovgeology” JSC discussed of reports of international experts on the results of the 22nd Conference of the UNFCCC and problems of Kazakhstan’s transition to low-carbon development. A welcoming speech to the participants of the event were – Deputy MES Committee of Science RK- Dr.Sadykov Erlan, Director of the Institute of Economics KH – Academician of NAS RK Azimhan Satybaldin, Head of Department of the Ministry of Energy- Berik Baybusynov, Rector of the University of Science and Technology MAZDAR (OAE) Dr. Bekhiat Al Yusuf, Director of the Scientific and Educational Center “Green Academy” Dr. Yessekina Bakhyt, Advisor to the Chairman of JSC “Samruk-Energo”, Professor Stanford University (USA), Dr. Maksat Tyuzelbayev, Scientific Secretary of the National Nuclear Center Vladimir Viktyuk, Chairman of the Association of RES in the RK, Dr. Omerali Akhat and others.

Based on the results of the Roundtable, recommendations were developed for further preparation for WSEC-2017 and identification of strategic directions for the transition to low-carbon development in Kazakhstan.
