Scientific Research and Education Center “Green Academy” jointly with the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan with the support of UNECE conducted the Workshop-Training for heads of state bodies of Kazakhstanon the theme “Integration of SDGs Indicators into the Strategic Planning System” on 25-26 January, 2019 in Astana.
The main objective of the event was to identify ways of integrating SDGs indicators into the state planning system and national statistics, as well as to develop recommendations for the preparation of the Voluntary National Review (DNR) for the implementation of the SDGs.
Welcoming remarks were made by the Vice-Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan M.Dzhunusbekova, the Director of the Department of Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Rakhmetullin and the Senior Specialist of the UNECE Statistical Department M. Nagy. The Workshop was moderated by member of the “Green” Economy Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Director of the SREC “Green Academy” B. Yessekina.
5 Sessions were held during the Workshop: 1. Implementation of the SDGs: global, regional and national levels; 2. SDG 13 — Actions to mitigate climate change; 3. SDG 7 — Affordable and clean energy; 4. SDG 11 — Sustainable cities; 5. SDG 6 — Clean water and sanitation.

Shalabekova — Director of the Department of Green Economy of the Ministry of Energy, A. Sospanova — Director of the RES Department, Ministry of Energy, O.Sartaev — Chairman of Astana Innovations, and others.
Representatives of the Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Health Care, Ministry of Agriculture, Astana City Akimat, research institutes, “Astana Innovation”, Center “Talap”, as well as representatives of business companies and NGOs took part in the event.
As part of the discussion, attention was given to the issues of improving the strategic planning system, taking into account international experience in the modernization and digitalization of such sectors as energy, climate, city and infrastructure management.
Participants noted that many of the indicators are already included in the strategic and political documents of the Government for SD, however, it is necessary to continue discussions with representatives from all sectors of society, including scientists, experts and NGOs.
At the conclusion of the Workshop-Training, the recommendations to the Government of Kazakhstan on the integration of indicators of SD into state development programs were developed and participants awarded certificates.
