Scientific Research and Education Center „Green Academy together with Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and KAZENERGY on July 3, 2018 within the framework of the AIFC International „Green Growth Forum” in HILTON Astana conducted the Panel Session on the theme „MECHANISMS FOR FINANCING OF ALTERNATIVE (GEOTHERMAL) ENERGY ”.
The aim of the event was an expert discussion of state and prospects for the development of geothermal energy sources in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the participation of leading foreign and domestic research and expert organizations.
The Moderator of this Session was Dr.Bakhyt Yessekina, Member of the Green Economy Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Welcome speech did by Mr.Bulat Akchulakov, Vice-Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mr.Adelino Silva, Ambassador of Portugal in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Representatives from Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Innovative and Development, Ministry of Agriculture, AIFC, IGTC, Akimat of Astana and Almaty , RES Association, KAZWEST, business and NGOs were participated to the Session .
As a result of the discussion were developed recommendations to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan .

The participants of the Session, organized by the Ministry of Energy of the RK, the Scientific and Educational Center „Green Academy”, AIFC, JSC „KAZENERGY” and representatives of the state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan- Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Development, Ministry of National Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, international organizations- World Bank, USAID, the Embassy of France, the USA, Portugal, the Russian Federation, business — NCBAtameken, Samruk-Energo JSC, Association of Renewable Energy of the RK, Arctic Green Corporation (Iceland), Ecochoice), scientific organizations — Nazarbayev University, Institute of Hydrogeology and Hydrophysics, KAZNRTU named after. Satpayev, Institute of Hydrospetsgeology of the Russian Federation, L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University and other organizations, recognizing the importance of the development of geothermal energy in the framework of the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement and the Conception on the transition of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the „green” economy, adopted the following recommendations to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
1. The Republic of Kazakhstan has a significant geothermal energy potential.
2. Conducting scientific, technological and exploratory studies of thermal waters will allow the country to develop alternative energy, which along with RES will contribute to the growth of competitiveness of the national economy and ensuring energy security of Kazakhstan.
3. The Ministry of Energy together with international organizations — the World Bank, EBRD, AIFC, UNDP and other organizations, initiate a research project to assess the potential of geothermal energy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
4. REC „Green Academy” together with the Ministry of Energetics of the RK to form the Expert Group among the inter-generative and geothermal energy.
