December 6, 2024 – The Seminar titled “COP-29: Outcome and Recommendations for Kazakhstan” was held in Astana, organized by the REC “Green Academy” together with the Ministy of Ecology and Natural Resources of the RK, Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the SIPA/IDDRI project and the University of Central Asia.
The event aimed to inform civil servants—master’s students, doctoral students, and faculty members of the Academy—about the outcomes of the Climate Change Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-29), held in Baku from December 12 to 22 of this year. The Seminar also focused on developing proposals for the implementation plan of Kazakhstan’s Carbon Neutrality Strategy.
We extend our gratitude to the speakers of the Seminar Yerlan Nyssanbayev (MENR RK), Kathy Leach (British Ambassador to Kazakhstan), Dr. Yerlan Abil (APA under the President of the RK), Rustem Kydyrbekov (ME RK), Dr. Georgy Safonov (SIPA/IDDRI), Oleg Pluzhnikov (Climate Strategies), Dr. Christopher Gerry (UCA), Blair Blackwell (CHEVRON), Zufar Tokpayev (JSC “Zhasyl Damu”), Berik Erbosynov (RSE “KAZSTANDART”, MTI RK), Natalya Bachinskaya (Chapter Zero Kazakhstan) for their presentations and contribution to raising awareness among the civil servants of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The “Green Academy” REC and the UCA announced the establishment of a Partnership to promote Article 6 of the Paris Agreement in Central Asia and called on international and domestic organizations to join this initiative.
In conclusion, participants of the seminar who successfully passed the online testing were awarded certificates.
