02.06.2023 at the Ecojer Forum, the Green Academy Scientific and Educational Center together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the SIPA/OECD/IDRRI project, held a session on the topic “THE POLICY OF ACHIEVING CARBON NEUTRALITY: THE OECD and the Republic of Kazakhstan”. Welcoming speeches to the participants of the Session were made by: Deputy of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Remote Territories of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan O.A.Bulavkina and Head of the SIPA /OECD project P. Atammer.
Moderator of the Session, Member of the Council on Green Economy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Director of the REC “Green Academy”, Dr. Yessekina Bakhyt gave the floor to the Speakers of the Session: Henri Weissman, Coordinator of the Global Decarbonization Initiative, Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Cooperation (IDDRI, France); Danielle James Bensley, Leading Expert of the World Bank; Coordinator of the development of a Strategy for Achieving Carbon Neutrality, Deputy Director of the Institute for Economic Research (ERI) Kuanysh Beisengazin; To the Deputy Director of the European Forest Institute (Finland), Dr. George Safonov.
Dr. Marat Koshumbayev (KazAgro named after S.Seifullin), Asel Shauenova, Head of the Department of the Bureau of Statistics of ASPIR RK, Director of the Department of JSC “QAZINDUSTRY”, Dr. Saltanat Zhumabekova, Malikova Aigul (Head of NGO “Ecomuseum) took part in the discussion of the reports. The Session was attended by representatives of the MENR, MNE, MIID, ASPIR, ME, IGTIC, the Association of Environmental Organizations, OSCE, ADB, JSC “Samruk-Kazyna”, NCE, EY, ERG, business companies and NGOs, in total – over 85 people.
It was noted that within the framework of the SIPA/OECD/IDDRI project, a number of stakeholder seminars on this topic are planned.
At the end of the Session, a Memorandum of cooperation was signed between the REC “Green Academy” and LLP “Green Technology HUB”.
