Within the framework of the OECD-Kazakhstan project on “Implementation of green growth indicators and the preparation of a National Report on green growth” on 19-20 June 2019 in the city of Paris was held working meetings (Workshop) with representatives of the Green Academy Scientific Educational Center and the Statistics Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the opening of the Workshop, Krzysztof Michalak – Senior Program Manager, Green Growth and International Relations Division, OECD Environment Directorate and Tomasz Kozluk– Senior Economist, OECD Economics Directorate made a welcoming speech.
In the second Session Myriam Linster from Environmental Information and Indicators, OECD Environment Directorate delivered a speech on “Tracking material flows (biotic and abiotic materials)”.
Representatives of the OECD Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs Alessandro Goglioand Pascal Mariannagave a talkat the third Session on “Employment in the environmental goods and services sector”.
Fernando Galindo-Rueda, Silvia Appelt, FabienVerger and Guillaume Kpodaron from the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation made a speech on “Research and Development expenditure of importance to green growth”.
On the theme “Natural asset base and other OECD tools (e.g. PINE database)” delivered a speech Ivan Hascic and Miguel Cardenas Rodriguez, Environmental Information and Indicators, OECD Environment Directorate.
Dr. Bakhyt Yesekina, Director of the SREC “Green Academy” presented the methodology for calculating the Natural Resources Index and it was recommended to apply in monitoring the use of natural resources in the Kazakhstani regions.
In the sixth Session Pierre-Alain Pionnier, Composite Leading Indicators, Prices and Environmental Accounts, OECD Statistics and Data Directorate spoke on the theme“System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA)”, where Kazakhstan was invited to provide a short update of the recommendations on the interim report of the SEEA.
At the closing of the Workshop Krzysztof Mishalak summarized the discussions through the recommendations of the participants for further steps to implement this project.
On 20 June bilateral meetings with Kazakhstan Delegation took place.
