Event was organized by the Almaty University of Energy and Communications named after G. Daukeev (AUES), Scientific and Educational Center “GREEN ACADEMY” and Center for Environmental Initiatives (Russia).

S. Sagintayeva – AUES Rector, Doctor of Economics, Prof. made a welcoming speech. Moderator was M. Salykova, Head of the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at AUES, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Prof.

Lecturers were Dr. M. Yulkin – Director General of the Center for Environmental Investments, international expert, Doctor of Economics, Prof., Russian Federation, topic of speech: “International experience of decarbonization of the economy”and Dr. B. Yessekina, Member of Green Economy Council under the President of Kazakhstan, Director of Green Academy, Prof., topic of speech: “Low-carbon development strategy of the Republic of Kazakhstan: goals and directions”.

Following representatives of AUES took part in the event: Head of the Department of Industrial Heat Power Engineering, Candidate of Engineering Sciences E. Umbetov with suggestion for biotechnology project for thermal plants; Department of Management and Entrepreneurship prof., Dr. R. Satova, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering and Safety Associate Prof. A. Abikenova and Head of Engineering and Industrial Safety Laboratory of the same Department, Associate Prof. T. Sanatova with suggestion for electrolysis based hydrogen production project; Сarbon Market Expert – PhD R. Muratov, etc.

Online lecture was attended by representatives of state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of the city of Nur Sultan, UNDP, UNEP, GIZ, teachers and students of AUES, KazNU, “Narkhoz” University, “Turan” University, MAI, Kazakh Research Institute of Energy, Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications, Institute of Geography of the Ministry of Education and Science RoK, Institute of Economics of the Ministry of  Education and Science RoK, Institute of Hydrogeology and Hydrophysics, Kazakhstan Center for Industry and Export, Eco-Jer Association, Kazakhstan Association for Waste Management “KazWaste”, “Almaty Electric Stations” JSC, business companies and other organizations, over 80 participants. The event resulted in recommendations to continue broad-based discussions on the draft Low Carbon Development Strategy and to forward suggestions to the Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Ministry RoK.
